REFLECTION TASK 3

It may seem unusual choice for most of you but

I think Özlem Özden is the person of the year.

Let me explain my reasons. Firstly, she is not a

normal person that we know already:) However,

I realized that most of the people wathed ''Bu

Tarz Benim'' for fun including me:)She is

moody, absurd or maybe has other bad

behaviour but she is also funny. She acted in

some ways but it does not matter for me, she has

people spend time on TV. Secondly, everybody

who is next to her hated her  but she eliminated

them during the competition. In every episode of

the programme she fighted one of the girls. She was insulted by

both jury and other girls but she smiled every time. Although

she had haters, she never ave up. They critisized his

age, clothes even his hair but she changed totally. The jury

confessed the big change of Özlem. Another reason is that she

got a job after competition. Now, she is presenter in another

competition.

REFLECTION TASK 2B

Pink Floyd-Another Brick In The Wall

I chose a song from Pink Floyd named another brick on the wall.I think this song

is so meaningful. This is a critism of against general education systems. The writer of this song

tries to say something to us. The role of teachers especially in our country is so dominant and

strict. They educate children just in a scientific way. There is no love or compassion towards

students. It affects the attitude of students agains school.

Nobody want to go to school and the reason is so clear and unquestionable.I agree with the

writer of this song completely because schools are like factories. When students come to school

they are different from each other but we can see that when they graduate, they think and act

in a same way.

It also talks about that every student is a part of community. There is no self value of people as

a person. Everybody is supposed to be same and different ones are isolated from public in the

clip. For example, a student writes a poem and teacher realizes the situation and insults the

student in front of others. The student seem like he feels insulted and offended by his teacher.

However, we can see that the mother of the teacher acts his son in a same way. Briefly,he acts

the way he is acted.

We don't need no education.
Eğitime ihtiyacımız yok.

We don't need no thought control.
Düşünce kontrolüne de.

No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Sınıfta küçük düşürülmeyi istemiyoruz.

Teachers, leave those kids alone.
Ögretmen, rahat bırak çocukları.

Hey, Teacher, leave those kids alone!
Hey, öğretmen, çocukları rahat bırak!

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
Böyle olduğu sürece, hepsi duvardaki bir tuğladan ibaret.

All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
Böyle olduğu sürece, hepsi duvardaki bir tuğladan ibaret.

Today I talked about a song from Pink Floyd which is so important for me. The translation of

the song is above, please check it and think about it. When I listen this song, I always

remember some of my teachers in the past. This song directs me to be a GOOD TEACHER

which is my department.

REFLECTION 2A

Switzerland  is situated in Western and Central Europe, where it is bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Leichtenstein  to the east. Switzerland is a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura.
Religion:Switzerland has no official state religion, though most of the cantons recognize official churches, which are either the Catholic Church or the  Swiss Reformed Church. These churches, and in some cantons also the old Catholic Church and Jewish congregations, are financed by official taxation of adherents.
Culture: Switzerland is home to many notable contributors to literature, art, architecture, music and sciences. In addition the country attracted a number of creative persons during time of unrest or war in Europe. Some 1000 museums are distributed through the country; the number has more than tripled since 1950. Among the most important cultural performances held annually are the Lucerne Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Locarno International Film Festival.

Probably the most famous Swiss literary creation, Heidi the story of an orphan girl who lives with her grandfather in the Alps, is one of the most popular children's books ever and has come to be a symbol of Switzerland. Her creator, Johanna Spryi (1827–1901), wrote a number of other books around similar themes.
Skiing, snowboarding and mountaneering are among the most popular sports in Switzerland, the nature of the country being particularly suited for such activities. Winter sports are practiced by the natives and tourists since the second half of the 19th century. The latter town hosted the second Winter Olympic Games in 1928 and the fifth edition in 1948.

I wanted to talk about Switzerland because I want to live there in future. There are so many reasons but I talked just a few attractive sides of this country. Its climate, literature, culture and success impresses me since I was at high school. I hope I would have a chance to visit and live there:)

REFLECTION TASK 1B

  Hi everybody,

Today I want to talk about Cem Adrian. Somebody may think that why did you choose him, he is already famous. However, I thought about it and I decided that he is not famos as much as Sinan Akçıl. Also, maybe someone hates him because of his choices. Let's talk about him and why I think he should be famous.Cem Adrian  is a Turkish singer-songwriterauthorproducer and director. He is known for his ability to sing from bass to soprano, as his vocal cords are three times the length of an average person's.Adrian was born in 1980 in EdirneTurkey. His birth name is Cem Filiz. He has some Bosniak ancestry as well as Turkish. He started his musical studies and released his first recordings during his secondary school terms.Adrian started his career in radio publishing at eighteen, and continued for about six years. At the same time he studied theatre and photography and recorded about 250 of his own songs at the studios of a radio station where he used to work.

In 2003, he performed as the singer and dancer of the ethnic music band "Mystica" which he founded, in Istanbul. In the autumn of 2004, he started his education as a "special student" at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Bilkent University, at the invitation of Fazil Say.In February 2005, Adrian released his first album Ben Bu Sarkiyi Sana Yazdim. This album includes the songs which Adrian had recorded by himself between 1997 and 2003 in Edirne, and the live recordings of his first academic performance with Fazil Say. This demo album achieved sales of 16,000 copies.
He performed in a series of concerts which started with "Babylon" in 2005 in Istanbul, and continued with the premiere of the Hamburg Music Season with the Bremen Jazz Festival, including Fazil Say and Burhan Ocal.
In 2006, he started working on his second self-produced album, which was published in November 2006 by the name Aşk Bu Gece Şehri Terk Etti.
In 2008 he released two albums, Essentials / Seçkiler and Emir, and produced the music for Abdullah Oğuz's film Sıcak, where he also played the role of a young imam
We can see that he is full of success and ability but people think badly about him because he is gay and he looks unusual like his clips. I said all I want to talk about him and you can listen a song from him.Link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSQlWI8IlcU

REFLECTION TASK 1A

Hi everyone,

Let me talk about myself. I am Eylül and I am first grade student. I have one brother who is 14 years old and one sister who is 15 years old. My father and mother are teacher in Kayseri which I come from. Last year I was at preparatory school. At the beggining of this semester I had hard times to get used to department because it was like a school with a ghost. Preparatory school was so crowded but our department is so quiet.

When I was at high school I chose language education because of the quality of language education of our school. However, the last year of our high school our teacher changed and the new teacher affected everybody in the class in a bad way. He contributed nothing to us and he handicapped our motivation. I hated English at these times and he affected my friends' and my success badly.

At the end of the high school we had graduation party and everybody joined it. It was our last memory but we had fun.
                                                       FRIENDS OF MINE
                                              THE MOST FRİENDLY TEACHER EVER:)

OUR LOVELY TEACHER

Another thing I want to talk about is what happened at preparation school. I has some problems last year about lessons because I believe in myself at grammar and reading but not at lstening and speaking. I had hard times when my teacher asked me questions in class. I always wanted to speak fluently and with non-mistake but this idea slowed me down. My friends spoke with mistakes but I understood that it does no matter when you speak. Listening is still problematic for me:) but  I think  it is better than last year. English is always difficult for me. However, I like it since I came METU because the way I learn English is so different here. I feel lucky to be here because of environment, friends and teachers.
